I would like to express my thanks for your participation in our first Eucharist in our temporary home and worship space. What a great new beginning! How great is our God! The prayerful support, generosity and contributions of the following benefactors make it possible for us to begin this new journey with so many blessings. Join me in praying for and showing a sense of deep appreciation to:
Bishop Plácido Rodríguez, and members of his staff, including: Marty Martin, Annabelle Ocañas, Renée Underwood, Lucas Flores, and Deacon Severo Alvarado. Each, in their own way, have contributed time, talent, and treasure that make the establishment of our parish possible.
The parishioners of St. Peter the Apostle, and their Pastor, Fr. Norm Ermis in Boerne, TX who donated the funds for the purchase of a crucifix and tabernacle. Fr. Norm and I worked together in San Antonio, and have remained friends. He wanted to support our new beginning.
Mark Shipton, the CMS Construction Company, and CMS Properties, who have worked diligently over the past three months to make this space available and ready for our use. Mr. Shipton and family are making a sacrifice in allowing us to use this space, that could otherwise be used and rented commercially. Mark has truly been a wonderful friend!
The parishioners and staff at Our Lady of Grace, who have made various donations of time, talent and treasure, including the donation of sacred vessels and vestments for use at our altar, remnants of stained glass that will be put to use in the future, and the contribution of time and energy during our transition.
Finally, a word of appreciation to the Honeywell Company of Lubbock, who donated office furnishings, and the many friends of SJTB who helped us transport and assemble these furnishings for our use.
So much has transpired since our first information session at the Lubbock Cooper North cafeteria in late May. For a parish that didn’t have a name only a few months ago, we sure have travelled a long way in a short time.
St. John the Baptist—we thank you!
St. John the Baptist—pray for us!
