SJTB Parishioners and friends showed up through the West Texas cold and wind as TEAM ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST for the 8th Annual American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Walk. The SJTB team walked in support of family and friends of those lost to suicide and those struggling with mental illness. Statistics from the AFSP, indicate that 44,965 persons die by suicide each year and suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. The annual walks raise awareness and funds from donations raised are used for scientific research and to provide resources and aid to those affected by suicide. Half of the money raised from the local walk stays in the Lubbock area to fund prevention programs and provide support to survivors. This is the 3rd year for SJTB to participate in the walk. Click
