The Rite of Sending, a sacred ceremony recognizing the powerful spiritual formation and transformation of our OCIA class, took place on Sunday, February 4th, during the 11 am Mass. The catechumens and candidates are beginning their final period of preparation and purification, leading to their full initiation into the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil.
During the Rite of Sending, OCIA Director, Lucy Escobar, implored that the OCIA body, also known as the Journey of Faith class, be recognized for the divine progress they have made in their spiritual formation and that they receive the assurance of our community’s blessings and prayers as they go forth to the Rite of Election and to receive their sacraments and marriage blessings at Easter Vigil.
Father John lovingly expressed the commitment of our church community and wholeheartedly commended the Journey of Faith Class to the bishop, who, in the name of Christ, will call the OCIA members to the Easter sacraments.
Father of love and power, guide these catechumens, candidates and participants in the days and weeks ahead: strengthen them in their vocation, build them into the kingdom of your Son, and seal them with the Spirit for your promise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
