Dear Parish Family: I write to share some sad news. Yesterday evening, my younger brother, Guadalupe “Lou” Cruz, who had been hospitalized since October 17 due to COVID-19, passed away here in Lubbock at Covenant Medical Center. While we, his immediate family, were unable to be with him because of the risk of exposure, I trust that he was not alone, but rather was carried safely to his eternal home in the arms of our loving Savior. Lou was a husband to Jane and father to two grown children, Anna and Vincent. He was a Case Manager for Child Protective Services of Lubbock and a member of our St. John’s parish family. I ask your continued prayers for all the members of our parish whose lives have been affected by this terrible illness, especially those who are currently struggling to regain their health. I’m forever grateful to all front line workers in the medical field. We are blessed to have many parish members who dedicate their lives to the work of healing. May the Lord Jesus, healer of our bodies and souls, protect them in their work and strengthen them in these difficult times. Through the intercession of St. John the Baptist may the Lord continue to grant each of us: humility, courage, joy and love.
