Time and Talent Spotlight
St. John the Baptist church is very proud of Andrea Albus and her dedication to our youth. Andrea is currently working on instructing her 5th class of students preparing for their 1st Communion at our parish! As a former High School teacher, she enjoys the different and faster pace of teaching these inquisitive 3rd graders.
Along with volunteering for our Youth Faith Formation program, Andrea is also a lector and Eucharistic minister. (She 1st became a lector when she was only in the 8th grade!).
Thank you, Andrea, for your devotion to our parish!

On behalf of the whole parish, we thank the Knights of Columbus for their generous donation of $4,000 from the proceeds of their recent golf tournament. Through the adversities of the pandemic and blustery weather, they succeeded to serve this parish as they always do. Thank you!
We have had to make lots of changes since the pandemic began. We are not longer handing out and sharing missalettes and music guides. The youth of our parish have stepped up and filled a huge need. Without the projector, our songs of praise to the Lord are stifled with no lyrics. Without the projector, those with hearing disabilities miss many of the words spoken by our lectors. We want to express our sincere gratitude to all who have helped in this ministry. Especially on the days when you weren’t assigned to work the projector, but stepped up when no one was there! If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact our front office at 771-2673.

It was formally announced on Monday, December 21, 2020, by Most Rev. Robert Coerver, Bishop of the Diocese of Lubbock, that our Pastor, Fr. David Cruz has been appointed Chancellor of the Diocese, effective immediately. Fr. David is assuming the position previously held by Mr. Marty Martin who has now been appointed the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Diocese. Along with his new responsibilities, Fr. David will continue in his role as Vicar General of the Diocese and Canonical Pastor of San Ramon Church, Woodrow.
Traditionally, the chancellor expediates canonical matters of the diocese and its parishes. This encompasses preparing official acts, collecting many types of records, and producing formal documents. By virtue of his office, the chancellor is the ecclesiastical notary.
With regards to our own parish, FR. DAVID WILL CONTINUE AS PASTOR OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST. At this time, we do not foresee this new responsibility changing anything within our parish. Please keep him in your prayers as he adjusts to these additional responsibilities beyond our own parish family.
“We exercise integrity and character NOT to get what we want, but to be what we ought to be—children and servants of God."
The parish office will be open
by appointment only,
9:00 am – 1:00 p.m.,
Monday – Friday.
Please call (806) 771-2673 beforehand to ensure someone is available to take care of your request.,Face coverings are mandatory as required by the Diocese.
